Oerlikon has signed a definitive agreement for the divesture of its Barmag textile machinery business for manmade fibers to Rieter for an upfront equity purchase price of CHF 713 million.

This transaction will further consolidate Rieter's global leading position in the natural fiber and synthetic fiber fields, and alos significantly enhance the competitiveness of its staple fiber business

As a global renowned textile machinery supplier, Barmag owns three well-known brands: Oerlikon Barmag, Oerlikon Neumag, and Oerlikon Nonwoven. Its main products include filament spinning systems, DTY machines, BCF systems, staple fiber spinning equipment, and non-woven fabric production solutions. In addition, Barmag also provides engineering services covering the entire textile chain. In the fiscal year of 2024, Barmag's sales reached 734 million CHF and the total number of employees was approximately 2600.
